Western Australia's Plastic Cup Ban

From January 1st 2022 single-use plastics including plastic party cups are banned in Western Australia. The official statement can be found here. Environment Minister Reece Whitby announced the ban saying, 'It is time for Western Australia to take the next step towards a single-use plastic-free future.'

You might occasionally still see cups in WA stores over the next couple of months. This is because the WA government is allowing a transition period before they start penalising people who continue to sell plastic cups. Within a few months all single use plastic cups will have dissapeared from Western Australian forever!
